The HIBT 3+3 is the first ground-up collaboration between Billy Tolhurst and Harley Ingleby. Where earlier Tolhurst x Thunderbolt boards built on five decades of Billy's shaping, this one started from a blank slate — co-designed from day one and refined through one of the most extensive R&D cycles ever run on a Thunderbolt model.
The HIBT was developed for surfers who want speed and tight, loose top-turn response across a wide range of conditions. Its subtle bottom curve keeps the front end free and neutral, so the board stays drivable whether you ride it on or above its volume range.
This 5'10" sits in the performance shortboard window — a true Thunderbolt-tech high-performer for surfers who want shortboard manoeuvrability with the durability and energy of Thunderbolt construction.
Three Boards in One
The 3+3 fin layout opens the HIBT up to three completely different setups: full quad, true twin, or asym. One board, three personalities — versatile, fast and properly fun.

Fins:
For everyday conditions, the FCS Harley XL tri set is recommended. In larger or more open faces, the FCS Harley XL quad set delivers extra drive. The 3+3 box also lets you experiment with twin or asym layouts.
